Ryde Council’s plan

Ryde Council issued a draft Greenhouse Emissions Reduction Plan in February 2007. This plan was developed as a required step in the Cities for Climate Protection Program to which Ryde Council is a signatory. The public consultation period for the draft plan ended in April 07.

Ryde Gladesville Climate Change Action Group made a submission on the draft Plan which is attached. In May 07 we asked all the local Councillors some questions about the plan for the purposes of informing our supporters of the position of elected leaders on this issue.

Ryde Gladesville Climate Change Action Group attended Council in July and argued that actions proposed by the Plan were too limited to have any effect and it should go back to the drawing board.

Council passed the Plan without amendment.
