Game, set and match to inaction on climate in Bennelong
We met with John Alexander, Federal MP for Bennelong on 14 November to ask him to support the Repower Port Augusta initiative, a plan to install Australia’s first major 24 hour solar plant. At previous meetings he had assured us that he accepted climate change and the need for action to reduce energy use. We were very surprised at this meeting as he refused to commit to supporting the proposal which has widespread support from people of Port Augusta and would replace two retiring coal fired power stations. His response was to say that we can’t damage the economy and the best he could manage was to refer it to the Liberal Parliamentary Long Term Vision Group. Disappointing……. Mr Alexander we need action today, not vision for some time later. Why not call him and show your support for this project (9869 4288).
